Throw out "Hail to the Chief"

Alex Pappademas has a fabulous article in the New Republic about Barack Obama's ipod play list.

Yet another reason to vote for Obama: He's a Dylan fan.

A better reason to vote for Obama: His favorite song isn't "Blowin' in the Wind" (which, as Pappademas points out, would have been a safe and unbearably obvious choice) -- no, it's "Maggie's Farm."

Extra points: Obama is apparently a fan of the Rolling Stone's "Gimme Shelter."

I knew this guy was cool.

(For the record: My own personal Bob Dylan favorite is "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" ... but I've come to accept that I'm alone in appreciating that song's genius. Still, my respect deepens, though, for "Maggie's Farm.")
