My friend and colleague, Carla Spartos, has a terrific article on your schlub's favorite food (pizza) in today's NY Post. (Well, top three favorite foods, anyway.)And I was one of Carla's designated tasters!
All of Carla's decisions were sound -- but in my professional opinion, I think Carla got one thing wrong: L'asso is better than Lombardi's. Not that Lombardi's is bad (not at all), but I thought L'asso's white clam pie was scrumptuous. The cheese was very sharp, but not overpowering. And I preferred the fact that the pizza wasn't drowning in clams.
Readers of this blog will know the problems I had with Motorino 2.0, but I can't argue with the quality of the pizza. And going on a weekend was probably just a dumb idea.
