Elaine Kaufman, owner of the eponymous eatery and literary Uptown hangout, Elaine's, died today.I interviewed her a number of years ago for the Forward ... she did not take a shine to me.
During a lull in our conversation she said to me, "You're not very good at interviewing people, are you?"
Ah well... no hard feelings, Elaine.
